About us

At HMAC, we believe no one should have to face debt alone. Our team of trained advisers offers free, confidential, non-judgemental, impartial debt advice in Harpenden and the surrounding area.

Who We Are

HMAC is run by a team of trained volunteers from local churches in Harpenden. We are motivated by compassion and a commitment to support people in our community who are struggling with debt.

Our work is rooted in our Christian faith — we want to share God’s love in a very practical way, by walking alongside anyone who needs help.

Although our advisers are volunteers, our service is delivered on a professional basis::

  • HMAC is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), giving you confidence that the advice you receive meets national standards.

  • We are affiliated with Community Money Advice.

  • All our advisers are trained to CMA level 3 – Generalist Debt Advice, and most have completed CMA level 4 – Specialist Debt Advice.
